This is one of Grisham's didactic projects, telling us all about the workings of an Innocence Project. It details the pitfalls and triumphs of getting innocent prisoners out of jail. Grisham uses the first person point of view well to good effect, so we care about the protagonist, but the phlegmatic tone of the narrator does filter out a lot of passion. Credit goes to Grisham for making this an enjoyable read while learning about a subset of the legal profession and by extension, a real problem with the legal system.
