Stars: ⭐⭐⭐ Mystery/courtroom drama... Chloe is a successful writer and magazine editor. She has it all...a happy marriage with Adam, a wonderful teenage son Ethan, and a career she has always dreamed of. But her perfect world comes crashing down when her husband is found murdered in their summer home. As the police investigate this murder, they begin to realize that all is perhaps not what it seemed for this happy family/couple. For starters, Ethan is Chloe’s stepson….and nephew. Chloe’s husband Adam had once been married to her sister Nicky and Adam ended up with sole custody of Ethan, so a tangled web of relationships is revealed right away. And then there’s the small issue of the murder...who did it? And why? PROS: The Better Sister has all the aspects of a classic murder mystery...husband killed, and the family is suspected...all this accompanied by a murder trial. It seems to have the right framework for a great book! CONS: Time seems to tick on quickly in this book, four months here, another month there...and yet NOTHING seems to happen. To summarize this book in one word: BORING. Also, what was up with the ending...to me it made no sense whatsoever, but maybe I was just missing something. YES or NO: It’s an unfortunate NO - there are much better thrillers to spend your valuable time with than this one... 3 Stars
