This film displays a pretty good representation of the book The Count Of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas as its an adaptation from it. Three words. SO. FREAKING.GOOD! The movie is such a good timepiece where you can watch almost again, and again, and again. This adaptation became my favourite after the cast beautifully acted these iconic characters. I enjoyed the fast but thorough-paced scenes, the breathtaking scenery and costumes made the movie 10x more enticing, All of these made the movie worth watching with the intertwining of the French culture hinted and emerged into it but the best part of the movie for me was the story and arc of the main character Edmund Dauntess. Jim Caviezel was such an amazing actor for Edmund in the movie, it felt like I envisioned him as Dauntess in the book as well! An action movie, A romance movie, A passionate movie, A funny movie at times all rolled into one. It makes you think and be immersed into the movie without just being bored from the slightly long speeches from the passioned characters. ( I admit!) Some people complained that too much of the movie took place in the dark, but I didn't have a problem considering I enjoyed the film and how it was shot altogether. Great movie, and one to remember and ponder! I definitely would recommend this to teenagers and up. Rating: 5 out of 5 @PocketFullOfBooks22 of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library The Count of Monte Cristo is an incredible and intense movie with a terrific story-line and an excellent cast. This film is based on the novel by Alexandre Dumas although many aspects have been changed and modified, which I personally enjoyed because there was a bit more drama and action added. Although the theme of revenge may not be the nicest message to convey, the theme of faithfulness and not giving up is an important message which this film inspires in viewers. Overall an enjoyable film which I would rate 4.5/5 stars. @reginaphalange of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library
