It was a normal Monday, except that Charles Schine's morning routine was completely out of whack. His young daughter's book report, due that day, made him late for the train, and he forgot to buy a ticket and make his usual stop at the cash machine. Fortunately, a Good Samaritan on the train offers to buy his ticket for him, but that kindhearted soul is a gorgeous, long-legged woman named Lucinda, who quickly becomes Charles's obsession. Over the next few weeks their friendly chats on the train turn into lunches, then drinks, then a passionate embrace and a rendezvous in a seedy hotel. But as they are leaving the hotel room, something unimaginably horrible happens, and their lives begin spiraling out of control.
