Wow! This documentary could be used in a study of documentaries - and how much they've improved in the last 40 years! The subject matter itself (Building the Brooklyn Bridge) is fascinating. And someone who truly wants to learn about it will gain information, understanding, and appreciation by watching this video. However, the documentary is disjointed, inconsistent in presentation, great explanation in some areas and pitiful little in others, etc. My four kids (ages 14-8) are well accustomed to documentaries, and even they were making comments such as: "this doesn't flow" or "who is that guy?" or "they should've talked about that earlier" or "what is this Part 2 all about?"

An interesting account of the building of the Brooklyn Bridge. Ken Burns' first documentary created at age 24 and received a 1982 Academy Award nomination in the Best Documentary category.

I didn't think it was possible for Ken Burns to make a boring documentary. I was wrong.

Interesting doc, very detailed.
Good for any history buff who likes the structures of the world.
Excellent for anybody who has lived in New York.

To much of the Brooklyn Bridge and not enough on the history of it. Not one of Ken Burns better jobs and McCullough will put you to sleep on this one.
