Biblia's Guide for Warrior Librarianship

Humor for Librarians Who Refuse to Be Classified

Examining the lighter side of librarianship, this book presents a combination of outrageously funny cartoons, commentary, and wit. Globally known as Biblia, the Warrior Librarian, Amanda Credaro has teamed with cartoonist Peter Lewis and produced a book that expands on her award winning web site, Warrior Librarian Weekly , the product of many years of experience in librarianship. Equally applicable to all types of libraries, the work offers humorous advice, typical situations and dilemmas, and helpful examples that will be appreciated by anyone who has ever worked in a library. An additional section features a glossary of library terms, abbreviations, professional associations, and other resources.

I'm sure that it can be extremely demoralizing to be a librarian dealing with rude patrons, insensitive administrators and miserly budgets. Credaro does her best to poke fun at the workplace travails of the average librarian, but sometimes sounds more mean-spirited than funny. Her book sometimes reads like a compendium of every joke ever forwarded endlessly across the internet, except that all of the jokes have been rewritten to feature librarians. I did enjoy parts of the book, my very favourite being Latin for Librarians.
