Add a CommentA lovely, clever retelling of the life of Eleanor of Aquitaine, narrated by her contemporaries in Heaven as they wait with her to find out if her husband, Henry II of England, has served enough time in Hell to be admitted into Heaven. Very cute.
A very good YA historical about Eleanor of Aquitaine.
This is a quick and interesting ride through the amazing life of Eleanor of Aquitaine, one of the most fascinating of historic personalities. Born a princess, Eleanor of Aquitaine went on to marry two (warring) kings and have 10 children, while going on the Crusades
and maintaining her hold over her ancestral lands. Whatever may be fictionalized in this work, it stuck pretty close to the historical story as I have read it. The classic film "A Lion in Winter" with Katherine Hepburn dramatizes the later years of the queen.
An interesting read to learn about a real life Queen Eleanor. She lived during a time when women didn't have rights but Eleanor had power, brains and a sense of style. She was married to two kings and had two sons who became kings.
Wonderful way to discover Eleanor's life. She passes the time talking with people who knew her during different time periods; while she was Duchess of Aquitaine, when she was Queen of France, and when she was Queen of England. The lady had an amazing, colourful life.
