Wyoming game warden Joe Pickett must accompany a Silicon Valley CEO on a hunting trip--but soon learns that he himself may be the hunted--in the thrilling new novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author C. J. Box. When the governor of Wyoming gives Joe Pickett the thankless task of taking a tech baron on an elk hunting trip, Joe reluctantly treks into the wilderness with his high-profile charge. But as they venture into the woods, a man-hunter is hot on their heels, driven by a desire for revenge. Finding himself without a weapon, a horse, or a way to communicate, Joe must rely on his wits and his knowledge of the outdoors to protect himself and his companion. Meanwhile, Joe's closest friend, Nate Romanowski, and his own daughter Sheridan learn of the threat to Joe's life and follow him into the woods. In a stunning final showdown, the three of them come up against the worst that nature--and man--have to offer.

DARK SKY, another great Joe Pickett novel by C. J. Box. Joe finds himself in a pickle right from the get go in this one. A politician forces him to do something he really doesn't want to do. Then he has to take some never-hunted-before well-to-do's on a wintertime elk hunt. Only he becomes the hunted. This is a great story of survival under some really harsh conditions. And in the book you will find a great head-butting on the pros and cons of social media, which sounds a little weird for a survival novel involving a game warden. Can't wait for the next Joe Pickett novel, which was set up throughout this one, but came to a crescendo in the last 4 pages.

First week of March 2021 and this title leads the holds lists in public libraries across the U.S. A hunting trip where you turn out to be the hunted rather than the hunter.

I had an advanced reading copy of this and it was a wonderful read. Read it in one sitting. Joe is forced to guide rich man who created a new app like Facebook, on an Elk Hunt. What could possibly go wrong. Always great when Nate and Sheridan and Mary Beth become involved. Wonderful visuals - I could see it all clearly.

I haven't read it yet--hard to comment on it without reading it--I agree with hooperswish--its a Joe Pickett novel, what's not to like, on the other hand, I also agree with romale in that it would be nice if there was an intro to the book to give the reader an idea of the plot--frankly, for me, I would like to have more Pickett novels with his kids included

Seriously, go back and read book 1 and go from there.
Terrific series. I look forward to every March for the next book in the series.

If the CPL site doesn't have a description, you can go to amazon.com; it has the description. Also, if it's a C.J. Box Joe Pickett novel, you know it's going to be good.

Awful, where is short description of the book. How would you know if you want to place a hold?

It would be nice if the books on order mentioned if e-books were included, and let us reserve them like the print books. Thanks! I really enjoy the ability to check out books electronically, specially during the pandemic.
