Another fun one from Ruth Ware. I had it figured out about midway, but it was still enjoyable to see how it all unfolded.

A gripping and compulsive-read locked-door thriller that truly had me wondering who the bad guy was for quite a while - and really, there were several! Many characters were easy to hate at the beginning and grew slightly more sympathetic as the book continued, while the characters who were sympathetic at the beginning grew creepier and creepier the more you got to know them. A very well-done whodunit by Ware, who hasn't written a stinker yet as far as I can tell.

I’ve read so many mysteries that you’d think I could learn no more, but until I read the previews of this book, I had no idea of what a “locked door mystery” was. Its just what it says, the mystery takes place in a secluded place with a finite number of participates. This one taking place in a French Alps chalet during a blizzard with no way to get in or out limits the number of suspects. A tech company that has developed a wildly popular music app has come to spend a secluded week while they discuss what the future holds as they seek to issue an IPO. Two different ways forward have developed and each of the ideas has strong supporters and opponents. Being told from two different viewpoints, only heightens the widening of the cracks that start to appear. Ruth Ware up to the task of keeping readers confused up to the end in a very believable story.

A New & Noteworthy staff pick 2020. A locked room thriller where co-workers are stranded by an avalanche in a luxurious ski chalet in the French Alps. Then they start dying one by one. Ware is so good at moving the story along and keeping us guessing. Read it!

Not my favorite Ruth Ware, but it was a good slow burn. The ending was definitely worth it. I loved Erin and Danny. Pay attention to the Snoop music info at the beginning of the chapters -- they're interesting.

A locked-room thriller set amid a group of wealthy tech startup entrepreneurs snowbound at a ski chalet in the French Alps.....

Chilling -- literally. I have been in a home without power due to winter weather, but never on a mountain and never with a murderer! This is my favorite Ruth Ware yet. She takes the classic mystery tropes and updates with modern technology. In this case the centerpiece is the Snoop app. Chapters alternate between Liz (the minority shareholder) and Erin (the chalet hostess). Each woman has come to the chalet with trauma in their past. How will they respond to the threat of murder? Who will survive the avalanche and its aftermath? You will have to read this book and find out. I heartily recommend it!
