I didn’t even bother finishing this book. The title led me to believe that it would be interesting but it wasn’t. I don’t know if it’s because of the dual authors .

Not well written. Subject matter is distasteful plus the hero of the story is irritating. Read half and checked book back to library,.

The story line for THE MIDWIFE MURDERS is interesting. The characters are all hyper-emotional. however. That's a total distraction and completely unnecessary. The story could have been told with more rational characters. And to top it off - the title is deceptive. Midwives are central to the story, but only one dies and that was because she made a bad choice to be part of a criminal enterprise that involved stealing newborn babies.

Disappointing and pathetic.

This probably the worst of the "James Patterson" books I've ever read and I've read 99% of them I think (except for the short books). Patterson is no more involved in this book that the name on the cover.

The book jumps from 1 scenario to a 2nd then a 3rd and then back until the very last 2 chapters. If there is a 2nd book with the 2 main characters (mid wife and cop) don't let me know - I won't bother wasting my time.

After Robert Parker died his estate licensed a writer to continue with the characters that Parker had started with. And his books have remained decent to read.

Perhaps Patterson could look for better writers to take over his namesake or just stay with the characters he knows and quit inventing new ones.

I would not recommend reading this book and certainly would not recommend buying it.

I actually couldn't finish reading this book. The midwife's behaviour is so ridiculously unbelievable and the entire premise so far fetched, I gave up. As a reader who was formerly intimately involved in the midwifery field, I respectfully suggest that the author would have been better to follow the first rule of authorship - write what you know! Clearly he knows little about midwifery.

The new procedure is tedious and confusing. Revert to the old system that is library patron friendly!
