It's l968 in America. Change is blowing in the wind, but seemingly far removed from the unrest in the cities is the small town of Mill Valley, where for generations the shadow of the Bellows family has loomed large. It is in their mansion on the edge of town that Sarah, a young girl with horrible secrets, turned her tortured life into a series of scary stories, written in a book that has transcended time.

R.L. STIEN'S ATTORNEY ON LINE 2, STRANGER THINGS STILL HOLDING ON LINE 1, AND THERE'S SOMEONE HERE FROM EERIE, INDIANA WITH AN 11 o'CLOCK WHO'S
CLEANED OUT THE REFRESHMENTS...
or HAVEN'T I SEEN THIS EVERYWHERE BEFORE?
Small town- Halloween- Generation past- Social misfits-... k, let's make us some tripe!
They don't even bother with a soundtrack outside the dj exposition that almost makes you believe a one horse town would have two types to cover the hustle from farm to high school to soda shop.
Del Toro does some excellent filmwork, just take away his rewriting privileges; or at least curtail them radically. Does keep it's pace, just not far enough ahead of the crash of credibility.
Still worth a watch so you dont get a damaged copy leaving you wondering how it ended... AND it has been pointed out that technically, STtTitD came before the others, but it's late entry into the medium should be more than reason to cut it.

This is a modern day Teenie Booper Slasher movie, but without the in your face imposed morality behavior from the 80s. It has a stranger things vibe to it, some historical political and social climate that resonated with today's world and the kids/young adults are the heroes in this movie. I did enjoy the fact that it is not overly gory and not too many jump scares. A must watch if you ever read the stories, like scary/horror movies, or even like characters like that of Stranger Things.
