This was heartwarming and romantic with a bit of mystery. It is a really lovely summer read.

When we last met up with the Steele family they had all returned to the United States to recuperate from the shock of dealing with (a) a dead husband/father, (b) a McMansion in St. John no one knew about, (c) a love child and (d) various potential romances.

We get some new information on this book, but we are still awaiting the closure in the series finale to come next year.

This is also pretty typical book two content. These are always what I call the “filler” books. You need additional info to move the story along, but there’s not a whole lot of real action until book three. It also would not work at all as a standalone, but it was a great middle book. Bring on #3.

I loved reading this book. It picked up where the first book, "Winter In Paradise", left off. I can hardly wait to read the 3rd book in this series, "Troubles In Paradise".

I can hardly wait for book #3. I enjoyed the first two & found myself totally lost on the island as I started reading.

The first book was enough to get me to read this one. What a "let down". It's just not a good story. I won't be reading the third book.

Would have been a great beach read. Should have saved it for that.

2nd in a planned trilogy....I can hardly wait for the 3rd one! This one was very, very good and nice to be back with all the characters from the first one. This one also ended with a real cliff hanger! Elin, get that third one out ASAP!

I wish I had read my review of 'Winter In Paradise' before I wasted my time on 'What Happens in Paradise'. I won't make that mistake again.

I gave 'Winter in Paradise' only 3 stars because at least it was as interesting as it was unbelievable saying, "I think Winter in Paradise is merely a vehicle to introduce us to the Virgin Islands and clearly the prologue, as unsatisfactory as it is, to the sequels. 3.5 stars and I will give the sequels a chance with the hope they live up to Hilderbrand's other works as this one did not.".

'What Happens in Paradise' is a teenage romance for adults: everyone is hiding, lying, cheating, bouncing from lover to lover. FINALLY, at the end we get a hint of resolution to the mysteries surrounding Russ and his death, about which his survivors are just emotionless. If they are supposed to be in shock, you would never know it.

It's hard to tell if 'What Happens in Paradise' is a travelogue, a romance or a mystery. As with 'Winter in Paradise', Elin Hilderbrand again did a beautiful job of describing the island, its places, scenery and lifestyle that she clearly loves. Unfortunately, she did her story a disservice and it suffered greatly from her self-indulgence for the place.

I was angry after I stayed up to finish this book last night and even angrier I will be paying library fines to do so. I have 'Summer of '69' on my bookshelf waiting to be read. Frankly, I'm not sure I want to read it now.
