Very sanitized version of the decadence of the era in a film that was good, but not great. More of a homage to Freddie Mercury than anything else.

One of the best music biopics I have ever seen! Rami Malek was awesome as Freddie Mercury and deserved his Best Actor win back in March!

Who cares about director Bryan Singer's antics while this was filming? Just watch this film for Rami Malek alone.

Good film but I agree with one of the other comments that this was a carefully crafted version of events. I heard Sasha Baron Cohen, who was originally slated to star as Freddie Mercury, in an interview explain that he left the project because he wanted to show aspects of Freddie's personality and behaviour that the band preferred to keep hidden. If anything, this film reminds me of how business savvy Queen is. Through Wayne's World in the early 90's and now with this film, they continue to find ways to introduce their music to younger generations and garner attention for their band. They are awesome at legacy building.
On a less cynical note, Queen is indeed an incredible band. I've often said that you don't have to like every Queen song but every song is a masterpiece. They were excellent musicians and wrote interesting and different music. This film showcases some of that talent and uniqueness that the band has. Overall, good film.

I knew nothing about Queen and wasn't sure that I wanted to watch this but discovered that I did know some of their songs and then enjoyed their story and their music. I even watched the youtube video of their live performance at Live Aid in 1985.

Something tells me this is a somewhat 'looking through the rose colored glasses' retrospective on Queen. It is an interesting movie nevertheless. The lead actor's take on Freddie Mercury reminded me of Natalie Portman's take on Jaqueline Onassis.

I usually don't enjoy making-of/backstage movies, but the cinematography here was very effective, the interactions between bandmates were well-shown (instead of making this a completely one-man show), and you can't fight that toe-tapping music. Good film!

WOW! Would have LOVED to see this in a theatre before the screens became not much larger than my flatscreen. Epic portrayal of an epic band whose music is still enjoyable some 40 plus years later. Beautiful!

Deserves all the praise it has received by the film industry and the movie goers of the world. Undoubtedly the success of a movie about the rock group Queen will mean many more movies about legendary musical legends. Can't wait!!!

Loved this movie! I watched it not knowing anything about Freddie Mercury, but really got to like him. The music is the part I loved most.

We enjoyed the movie very much. Well told story. Great acting. The Live Aid concert reenactment is a cherry on top. I did not even mind some of the "soap opera" moments - the rest of the movie made up for those. Rami Malek definitely deserved the Oscar.

76 quotes posted in IMDb already, thanks to the contributors. Here are those on Freddie's chompers:

Reporter 2: Freddie, uh, your teeth! Why don't you get your teeth fixed?
Freddie Mercury: I live in Britain. I don't want to stand out.
Freddie Mercury: I have four extra incisors.

*** expanded quote on his incisors:
Our lead singer just quit.
-Well, then you'll need someone new.
Any ideas?
-What about me?
Uh, not with those teeth, mate.
- Freddie sang: I know what I'm doin' ... I got a feeling ...
The others harmonizing: Doin' all right
-I was born with four additional incisors. More space in my mouth means more range.
