A man is dead, shot three times in his home office. But his computer has been shot twelve times, and when the cops arrive, his pregnant wife is holding the gun. D.D. Warren arrives on the scene and recognizes the woman - Evie Carter. Evie's father was killed in a shooting that was ruled an accident. But for D.D., two coincidental murders is too many. Flora Dane sees the murder of Conrad Carter on the TV news and immediately knows his face. But D.D. and Flora are about to discover that in this case the truth is a devilishly elusive thing. As layer by layer they peel away the half-truths and outright lies, they wonder: How many secrets can one family have?

I liked the combination of the three key women and the current and old history. Lisa Gardner provides enough twists and turns to keep the reader's attention! My personal struggle - jumping between voices that challenges me to keep on top of which character is in charge of the new chapter. It's frustrating (for me) to go back & forth in time, between characters , and keep my focus. Overall, I thoroughly enjoy this author and found this latest to be another good offering from her.

A trifecta of leading female characters makes this the best D.D. Warren mystery yet -- possibly my favorite Lisa Gardner novel to date as well. The three women find themselves connected by one murder and it takes some teamwork on their part to bring about justice. They are all different and each one has baggage that can get in the way. Still, along with some key male contributions they go deep into the dark web to track down a mystery that began sixteen years ago. Highly recommended!

Long , boring, repetitive, dull, and poorly written in places. Not up to Gardner's usual standards. Disappointing to say the least. What else can I say ?

#10 in the D.D. Warren series. Flora Danes is back as a regular character in this series and SSA Kimberly Quincy from the Quincy and Rainie series makes a guest appearance. In this episode there are 2 murders in the same family that occurred years apart and the most recent one seems to have connections to Flora’s kidnapper. Written in alternating chapters from DD, Flora and the murder victim’s wife - Evie. So many lies and secrets in the victims family make it a twisty road to solve the mystery. As usual, another entertaining page-turner from this author.

Wow. I can't fathom having such a detailed and intricate mind as Lisa Gardner, author of Never Tell.

I've always been fond of D.D. Warren but this is less a story about her and more about meshing the stories of three complicated women all connected by their stories, yet each with their own story in 'Never Tell'.

The fear, the confusion, the frustration, the horror just grabs and doesn't let go, until the tears at the end.

I'm very fond of Flora Dane. I want to see more of her and hope she continues to blossom after too much time in her personal desert. I also hope she keeps her edge while blossoming.

I believe you would be missing a great deal if you do not read 'Look For Me' before reading 'Never Tell'.

Lisa Gardner can really spin a tale. NEVER TELL has more characters coming and going than usual. Part of this story brings back various characters from a previous Gardner book, and then adds in a bunch of others. What makes this story (and Gardner's generally) really interesting is her weaving together multiple crimes with a semi-deep dive into the psychology of the major players involved. It isn't just a crime thriller and not just a psychological thriller - it's equally both! This story has multiple crimes past and present and plenty of characters with plenty of flaws, including plenty of things to hide. Great read.
