When The Cookie Jar becomes the setting of a star-studded TV special about movies filmed in Minnesota, Hannah hopes to shine the spotlight on her bakery - not the unsavory scandal swirling around her personal life. But that's practically impossible with a disturbing visit from the shifty character she once believed was her one and only love, a group of bodyguards following her every move, and a murder victim in her bedroom. Now, swapping the crime scene in her condo for her mother Delores's penthouse, Hannah and an old flame team up to solve a case that's messier than an upended chocolate cream pie. As suspects emerge and secrets hit close to home, Hannah must serve a hefty helping of justice to an unnamed killer prowling around Lake Eden ... before someone takes a slice out of her! Includes recipes.

To really understand this book, you need to have read all of the preceding novels in the series. That being said, this addition disappoints in that the mystery itself fills few of the pages, with the rest focusing on closing the loose ends and creating a few new ones in the personal life of Hannah Swenson.

I was looking for a true ending but there was not one.

Don't bother to read any of these books. Fluke is a terrible author and this is a terrible series. The actual murder and the solving of the murder were about 9 pages apart. The recipes would be comfortable in the 1950's where everyone was so excited to make things out of a box. Disappointed yet again.

Long time reader of this series, and I’m finally done. Hopefully if there is another book, that one will be the last.

This shouldn’t be listed as a cozy mystery anymore. I first checked it out as a hardback and couldn’t get past all the ridiculous very out of date dialog... this is 2019! Not 1989. So I took it back without finishing lol.
Then decided to check out the ebook version and I just couldn’t take it anymore.

It made me angry and I don’t care about any of the characters anymore. Where was the mystery? Every other paragraph is a “new” recipe and repeat dialog about that recipe because everyone better taste that recipe. how many coolwhip things does this book need? The real mystery is why does the author think you can’t find pink grapefruit in grocery stores in February? Stagnant series should end! Put it out of its misery.

This is the first book I have read in this series. Unfortunately, it did not encourage me to read others. The mystery definitely took a back seat to the recipes. The focus on food and recipes was overwhelming and distracting.

Very disappointed in this book. The book was over 3/4 done when a body was discovered and the killer came in the next couple of chapters. Too much cooking and recipes in this book. The ending did leave you this a cliffhanger, but don't know if I'll read it.

I used to enjoy the earlier books in this series when I was looking for a light read. I've been very disappointed with the last 3 or 4. It seems like in the more recent books, Fluke has a series of recipes should like to use and crams them into the story with a heavy hand. I don't remember her earlier books as having as many recipes or having the recipe so obtrusively added. I have read some of Fluke's other books that don't involve Hannah Swensen, and her plot development is much better. I like the idea of a cozy mystery series set in a town that the more you read, the more you know the town, and the more you enjoy seeing people pop up in the background of the current story, but I feel like Fluke is running out of ideas for this series, but not out of recipes.

I try to like this series but I just can't get into it. This one has little plot and even less mystery. I am taking a break from Hannah.

Another great read. I love the characters and I finished this one in record time, one cliff-hanger to the next.
