Primatologist Davis shares an unshakable bond with George, the extraordinarily intelligent, silverback gorilla who has been in his care since birth. When a greed-fueled corporation's genetic experiment goes awry, George and other animals across the country are mutated into aggressive super-creatures that rampage the city. In an adrenaline-filled ride, Davis tries to find an antidote to not only halt a global catastrophe, but to also save the fearsome creature that was once his friend.

This was a super fun and silly action movie based off a video game. The story was just plain silly but also super fun and full of heart. I found the animation to be pretty good as well. Definitely easy watching.

A silly action story taking advantage of the fame or box office appeal of Dwayne Johnson to sell some tickets. The action is loud, ceaseless, and boring. Special effects are pretty good. I would not recommend.

Just finished watching Rampage this last weekend. And, all-and-all, it's not all that bad (for a video game-based movie, at least).
Of course, they did take a few liberties with the license. I don't know everything about the Rampage lore; but the most telling difference is this: the video game was about three HUMANS who were turned into these Kaiju monsters, whereas in this movie, three ANIMALS are genetically altered and grown to Godzilla-y size.
But, whether they follow the lore of the game faithfully or not, I still think this is an okay movie.

I can only hope that when I am called on to save the world there will be a fully prepped yet unmanned chopper every 40 feet like in this movie.

This movie was better than I thought it would be. If the Rock wasn't in it I would not have even watched it. His charm, sense of humor and silliness carried the movie. I enjoyed it.

An entertaining teen sci-fi comedy that teamed up Kong with the hottest kid-doll Dwayne Johnson in an experiment of CRISPR/Cas9 gone wrong. The initial set up in space was very well done and the rest, CGI, destruction of Chicago, the evil siblings and the humor at the expense of grown-ups, were good for a watch but not enough to peruse the second DVD's "Special Features."

Not going to rehash what’s already been said in other reviews/comments, but for entertainment value, this is a good weekend-nothing to do- lazy afternoon flick. If you know about the arcade game, you’re already a step ahead. If not, go in with a simple (to little) expectation of a fantasy/action movie and you’ll be fine.

SPOILER ALERT! My only gripe is that there was one scene, towards the end, that flustered me and that I couldn’t get over. I know we, as the audience, are to suspend belief on the premise of this movie, but the real world situation of getting shot was beyond logic. It was poor writing and could’ve easily been handled as a “graze”. Other than that, this movie is passable.

This one is easily filed under "never needed, probably should not have been made." I played this game as a kid and it was fun for 15 minutes or so, yet I never found myself wishing to know any kind of backstory or dramatization of it. Well here it is! Since it is here, if you choose to watch it, I must say it is better than it probably deserves to be. The gorilla is actually treated in a loving way, stressing friendship and equality with his human companions. The Rock still shines with charisma, and is believable (if you are game) as a "primatologist" and George's best friend. It all works well enough for what it is.

Okay, it's a monster movie, so about what you'd expect. Seemed like they spent all their cash on Dwayne and the CGI monkey, so there is some pretty awful acting. Add to that the feeling like 5 different people wrote different scenes, and it's not that great even for a monster flick. You'll recognize scenes from the Avengers and scenes from Jurassic World. What really annoyed me though was the ridiculously crude last scene. Really? In 2018, we're still doing that? Not to mention the kids who copy this and will get into trouble for it... Sigh.

Some quotes in IMDb already but not this one:

All right, get outta here, you big lug. Say hi to the dogs for me.
-I will.
