When I picked up this book (expecting a Halloween chilly mystery, for some fear), I was not expecting it to be as horrid as I found it. The plot was so intriguingly written but it made me question how the author could have came up with something so... sinister. I felt genuinely taken aback, despite all the positive things this book had to offer. I recommend reading this if one has a high tolerance for emotional "wrongness," as it is quite questionable if the characters' acts can be forgiven.

While I enjoyed the character development part of this book, I found the ending to be very predictable. I wanted to quit reading less than halfway through but finished it just to make sure I was correct.

A pleasing take on the child has gone missing trope - I truly enjoyed the narrator and her point of view, as well as the other character developments. A reflection on life's choices, or rather the choices in responding to life events, it was engaging and a solid read. Although there were some moments of strained credulity, the ending was quite enjoyable in its own way. I definitely recommend!

Absolutely chilling. I read page 267 and had to put my tablet down and walk away for a while. It sent chills down my spine.

This was my first novel I've read by Lisa Jewell, but will now read all the others. If you like thrillers that stay with you long after you've finished the book, then read this one - I thought it was awesome.

My first Lisa Jewel book... will look for more. I figured out the main plot early sad. But was suspenseful and kept me reading.

I have read two of Lisa Jewell’s books, and I think I’m done now.

This book was improbable and bizarre (as Lisa herself suggested in the acknowledgments).

You have this psychotic woman who is able to make happen in one evening what specialists take several attempts to do. Then everyone in the book is intertwined, coincidentally, even though they live in a large city.

I like the way Lisa writes, but her storyline is shy of reality.

I could not put this book down! It is really good and it was suspenseful from the first page.
I'm going to read other books by Jewell.

This was my first novel from Lisa and she is most definitely a good author! The story was a tiny bit predictable. BUT for sure a lot of twist. I could not wait to keep reading!

I am going through her list now and adding some more of hers :)

I record and rate all the books I read on a scale of 1to 10. Ten being the best rating you can get. I gave this book a six. I had a hard time finishing it. I’ve read 67 books so far this year and this was the lowest rated book I read.

Oh my gosh, this book is amazing!! I love this author, and she has moved to my favorites list. As a side note, I really like it when authors thank their readers in the acknowledgments as she did at the end of this book.
