The Age of Eisenhower is the definitive account of this presidency, drawing extensively on declassified material from the Eisenhower Library, the CIA and Defense Department, and troves of unpublished documents. In his masterful account, Hitchcock shows how Ike shaped modern America, and he astutely assesses Eisenhower's close confidants, from Attorney General Brownell to Secretary of State Dulles. The result is an eye-opening reevaluation that explains why this "do-nothing "president is rightly regarded as one of the best leaders our country has ever had.

StarGlad. Please check your facts regarding casualties of the marchers. There were 100 injuries not deaths. And now you are responsible for a little fake history;-)

Whenever I come into contact with the [typical] American over the age of 40 who still believes that Andrew Carnegie was some sort of saint, instead of a war profiteering devil, from the Civil War to World War I, who brutally put down labor disputes, and traveled on an armaments-selling tour which he falsely labeled a // peace \\ tour, where he sold the sub which sank the Lusitania to the Kaiser, I am further convinced of the necessity of Fake History to promulgate endless Fake News.
Unless this author mentions Eisenhower's chief backer and financier, Floyd Odlum, whom Ike sent in the CIA to overthrow the democratically elected government of Guatemala because Odlum was the majority shareholder in United Fruit, or that it was Odlum's company [a gasoline-holding tank manufacturer] which so profited tremendously when Ike expanded the national highway system, then it is yet another addition to to Fake History!
[Am I the only American who recalls the names of the three military types involved with the slaughter of over 100 men, women and children at the Bonus Marchers Camp in Anacostia: MacArthur, Patton and Eisenhower?????]
