As much as I love this series I was a little relieved to see the end of the book, the movie, and all other references to "Fucking and Punching", Hank's novel that was stolen then reclaimed then made into a screenplay and subsequent movie... And then finally in this season he is criminally charged in relation to the events that happened with a minor in his autobiographical novel. I think this topic was played out in its entirety. But apart from that I still love the rest of the tale. The characters and their interrelationships are brilliant and the writing style and dialogue superb. The series does have some far out inconsistencies though. Like the way Hank Moody's character ALWAYS has the most gorgeous women openly throwing themselves at him wherever he goes. Come on!! I don't think even George Clooney experiences that kind of action! But apart from that the storyline and writing is so well done I can easily overlook those minor points as it just enforces the fact that this story is fiction, not real life. Whoa, is it ever FICTION!!

As usual this season has a mix of Hank Moody's real life and fantasy life. Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference. Season four of Californication finds Hank embroiled in yet another controversy. Hank's past affair with an underage girl gets him charged with statutory rape. All of the other main characters are dealing with various problems as well. In addition there is the typical blend of sex, alcohol, drugs and rock and roll.
