After she gets kicked out of boarding school, Beatrice goes to her uncle's estate on Long Island. It's a rundown old mansion, where Beatrice's cousin, Hero, runs a struggling speakeasy out of the basement. As Beatrice and Hero throw all their efforts into planning a massive party to save the speakeasy, they are caught up in a romantic battle of wits that their friends -- Prince, John, Benedick and Maggie-- might be quietly orchestrating in the background.

A fun re-telling of Much Ado About Nothing set in a 1920s speakeasy. Light-hearted, yet not overly sweet. I loved the slight changes from the canon.

This is a very well done adaptation of the play, and really works in the chosen setting of the 1920s. I enjoyed all the characters and as my only reference was the Joss Whedon b&W version, I thought this one scanned a bit better.

This is such a light and fun read. It's my favorite Shakespeare play, Much Ado About Nothing, re-imagined in my favorite time period, the 1920s! It touches on a lot of things without delving too deeply into any of them, but it's an enjoyable journey for the reader.

Fast and fun, this witty romance set in the roaring 20’s has it all: car chases, bootlegging, speakeasies, and all that jazz!

A roaring twenties retelling of Much Ado About Nothing? Sign me up! Even if you haven’t read/seen Much Ado (although you should totally watch the 1993 movie), this book is so much fun. It can be a bit slow at times, but the romantic tension always keeps the plot moving right along. If you need a fun historical romance, check this one out!
