A Whisper of Horses starts slow but definitely picks up speed and rolls into a satisfying finish. If you’re looking for a dystopian novel that isn’t heavy on the romance, violence, or teen angstyness, then give this one a try. Serendipity’s quest to find the last living horses provides purpose and strength to her character that is appealing, even if you’ve never wanted to quest across England in the distant future to find a horse. I super enjoyed Serendipity’s companions: Mouse and Tab along with the other characters she met along the way. Not the best world building, but a totally relevant dystopian novel for middle grade readers!
