They say a Rider in possession of a good blade must be in want of a monster to slay-- and Merybourne Manor has plenty of monsters. Aliza Bentaine has already lost one sister to the invading gryphons. So when Lord Merybourne hires a band of Riders to hunt down the horde, Aliza is relieved her home will soon be safe again. She doesn't expect a clash of wills with dragonrider, Alastair Daired, nor the mystery that follows them from Merybourne Manor... something far more sinister than gryphons.
"A debut novel that retells Pride and Prejudice in a world where creatures are dragons, hobgoblins, lamias, and gryphons are commonplace, HEARTSTONE takes Austen's classic tale and turns it into something new, engaging, and imaginative"-- Provided by publisher.

It is a truth universally acknowledged that the only thing possibly greater than Pride and Prejudice is a book that takes Pride and Prejudice and adds dragons. Elle Katharine White is the genius behind this concept, and she makes you wonder why no one had thought of it before. Full of romance, wit, and derring-do, this is an enormously fun homageā€”I'd like to think Ms. Austen would have approved.

I have read a few fanfiction novels and to by far is one of the best. I have not ventured to try the zombie one yet because I hate zombies. This one is like Harry Potter meets P&P. Even makes you like all the characters. Very fresh take on a fantasy P&P, thoroughly enjoyed it.

Loved this reimagining of Pride and Prejudice! It had me at dragons. And no, it's not at all like Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Heartstone is similar enough to the source material to appeal to fans of retellings, but unique enough to stand on its own. Highly recommended.

I really enjoyed this. The bones of the inspiration are visible, but the changes and interesting twists in the world created are a great read.
Looking forward to another installment, or more in this universe if the author is so inclined.
