I loved this sequel to Wolf by Wolf. Oh what a different world it would have been if Hitler had won the second world war! Granted, I'm sure the Germans' experimentation on human subjects didn't come close to creating shape shifters (thank goodness!). A dictator rarely is good news for the inhabitants of any country, as has been proven time and time again across the globe.

Okay, I don't even care that this is another "special girl starts a revolution and revolt against the current oppressive government" dystopian YA, this book was amazing! The concept of identity, loyalty, friendship, family, pain, romance, covered all of that. Not the mention the writing was delicious! Some many sentences and descriptions I wanted to reread, I HAD to reread. The character development, too, was strong and fearless. She put her characters through the ringer and yet stayed true to their actions and to the purpose of the story. It was heartbreaking but truthful and I appreciated that greatly. I cried like three times at the end and that says something. Better than the first one, by far. But a great duology nonetheless.

Good way to tie up this duology. The characters continue to be as compelling as the plot.

Violence: This IS a WWII themed book, so it is to be expected. In particular, one character receives a very gruesome injury that is detailed in a gory manner.
