"A bestseller in the UK, this gripping thriller of a family that vanishes into thin air is Tim Weaver's American debut Emily Kane arrives at her sister Carrie's house to find the front door unlocked, dinner on the table, and the family nowhere to be found-Carrie, her husband, and two daughters have disappeared. When the police turn up no leads, Emily turns to her former boyfriend David Raker, a missing persons investigator, to track the family down. As Raker pursues the case, he discovers evidence of a sinister cover-up, decades in the making and with a long trail of bodies behind it. Tim Weaver's thrillers have been hugely popular in the UK, and now Never Coming Back will introduce his beloved character David Raker to American audiences. Set in Las Vegas and a small fishing village in England, the novel is a smart, fast-paced thriller sure to keep readers guessing until the very end"-- Provided by publisher.

I head about this author from my cousin in England - and was delighted to find two of his books in the WCLS system - hope you will add more of his books to the library collections!

This debut US novel brings lots of thrills and fast pacing throughout. Investigator David Raker is called to investigate the case of a missing family. The police have reached a dead end and David is the only hope to find out what happened to them. How could a family of four just vanish without a trace? Is there more to the story? Past secrets come to the surface and start to unravel as David digs deeper into the case. The setting complements the fast pacing of the story, divided between the glitz of Las Vegas and the breathtaking small towns of the English coast. This thriller keeps you guessing until the very last sentence!

takes a while to get into because he jumps around in both location and time but once you get the basic outline of the story it's a truly great read. His main character Raker is the protagonist in 4 or 5 of his previous novels which have not been published in the US

I really liked this book and I hope some of his other books get printed for North America.
