"When cat quilter Jillian Hart tracks down the owner of a gorgeous stray cat, the trail leads her to none other than fabulously wealthy, undeniably quirky Ritaestelle Longworth. The gossips in town are questioning Ritaestelle's sanity, and the high-society grande dame isn't helping matters with her wild accusations that someone is drugging her to keep her away from her beloved cat. Before Jillian can get to the bottom of Ritaestelle's charges, a body turns up in the lake behind her house--and her cat Chablis discovers Ritaestelle standing nearby. This is the third book in the series and I am enjoying each one more than the previous one. The first one was a bit confusing/rough with the introduction of the characters, but the author has done a delightful job of developing the characters in a realistic, complex way.

The main character (Jillian) is in her early 40s, widowed about a year previously when her 55-year old husband had a heart attack less than a year after moving to the small town of Mercy and building a home there.

The characters are realistic as is the behavior of the cats. Although I am a dog owner and am allergic to cats, I am delighted by the cats in these books too.

By the second book, Jillian has slowly developed an interest in the town PI and security expert, Tom, and the feeling is mutual. They are going slowly as both recognize that she is still mourning the death of her husband.

The author does a very good job of developing the characters in the book, especially the ones that are "suspicious."

I am looking forward to reading more in this series. This book is well thought out and both the characters and plot are very nicely developed.

Haven't read the previous one in the series, but this one was pretty good - although I was distracted by asking myself how someone makes a living as a "cat quilter" and does well enough at it that they can take so much time off from it to amateur sleuth.
