I'm a sucker for a recipe book with exciting color photos and especially when each recipe is accompanied by a short story about where it came from or who eats it. I was excited to get this book and try some recipes. Sadly, I tried 10 recipes and none was worth keeping. Some were terrible. The only reasonable one was for arepas (using special corn flour which I was able to get downtown). Whereas I was expecting some exciting spices because many of the recipes were for South American or Mediterranean, I found the food to be uniformly bland. At the end of the experience, my kids said "Get rid of that book dad" so that is how it ended.
