Exhilarating, action-packed thriller, that shows Lee Child's prowess as a fantastic fiction writer!

I gave it 3 stars, because it is OK, but its not one of Child's best. Its too... oo long and dragg........ed out.
I guessed on the bad cop too , and early on. There is just too much pre-dwelling on the cold weather and temperature, throughout. If its too darn cold for you, why did you go there ? I agree with the other commenter below who said that it was preposterous that a large aircraft, a B-737 no less, could fly up from Mexico, unidentified, into US air space , with no flight plan filed, then fly all the way acrosss the US and not be challenged in any way. That just would not happen. Interceptors would be very quickly scrambled. Child really messed up surpisingly with this.

How is it possible that you can fly a Boeing 737, without a FAA flight plan and post 9/11, from Mexico into the US and then across the Midwest to South Dakota and nobody notices?

I gotta say, this Reacher novel is best skipped. It's one of the longest and the most frustrating, and I join others online in wondering whether Lee Child wrote it all himself.

Another highly entertaining read but I couldn't go above four stars due to the author's cop-out by not explaining Reacher's survival at the end. You have to be a nuclear physicist or you're really out of luck. The plot is too ambitious and the denouement not really satisfying.

Book #22 chronologically after Gone Tomorrow (2009) and before Worth Dying For (2010):

The 61 hours gimmick did not work for me; the bad guys were only medium evil.

my 13th Reacher novel.. ( didnt read ONE SHOT as Tom Cruise did the movie..& the most interesting thing to me was that the ZEK was Werner Herzog)

&

I too figured out who the bent cop was before it was revealed...& I found it notable that the diamonds survived..

although the business about the leftovers of WW11 makes me more pissed at the Military since my paratrooper cousin came home from the Vietnam War with a monkey on his back.

I Love the Jack Reacher series of books, but I found this one to be slow to start, way too cluttered with unnecessary detail, and having a very disappointing ending. WTF?
