Horror as it should be. Lovecraft's writing is traditional horror, in a very old school style, but that's what makes it great. Written before the technologies of today, which have in part lulled us into a false sense of knowing everything, it's a taste of what a lack of knowledge can feel like, the fear of the unknown. How little we do know, really and how happy the smoke screen of technological knowledge is, to shields ourselves from the world of unknown fears.
A master of tapping into the nature of human fear and teasing it out of the reader. You should be afraid of the dark, it's a human instinct for survival.

Excellent compendium of Lovecraft's classic horror tales.
