* Bluefish starts off pretty depressing, but it moves toward hope. I like the themes of friendship and forgiveness.

* This book is great for nature lovers. It makes me want to walk in the woods right now.

* It's also great for book lovers. A lot of famous books are referenced, and many important scenes take place in a public library and in a junior high reading class.

This book is strange. It has almost no plot. However, I found myself enthralled by Velveeta's snappy little comments and Travis' intense solemnity. I would recommend this book, but not if you're an action or intense romance person. This is a realistic fiction novel.
All in all, it was pretty good, like I said. If you haven't read it, and you like realistic fiction, I'd recommend this book!

Travis moves to a new town with his grandpa, after recently losing his beloved dog. When he meets spunky, scarf-wearing, retro Velveeta (yes, that's her name!) and her tiny, squeaky-voiced little friend, Travis' life is turned upside down. He learns how to read, and he learns that change is sometimes a good thing, and that good friends don't care if you can't do certain things. They just care if you're kind.
