While I mostly liked this book, there were a few alarming pieces. The first: in the intro and preface, the author states she got many resources from and led dog nutrition groups on Yahoo. While social groups can be useful, there was little in the book to affirm the author's scientific authority. She does not clarify what she has a PhD in nor where she gets much of her research from. There are a few supporting quotes. Otherwise, the information is presented in a very useful and practical format. I appreciate that her initial (what might be described as) fanaticism against tradition animal nutrition levels off into a balanced discussion which supports working together with your veterinarian and allows for variations in feeding: Do you want to feed raw? Home cooked? Mix home-prepared and premium kibble? Overall, I did enjoy the information and will likely use much of it. However, I think I need to do more research into this subject.

Great advice on how to balance your dog's meat/veggie/mineral intake. Highly recommended if considering switching your pet from "junk food" diet to natural raw.
