It had a solid beginning and a good setup. I was really interested in reading about the different components of magic and the different powers someone could have. But I lost interest as the plot continued. This is probably the start of a long series so if you did like it there's something to look forward to.

Wow, the only way to describe this book is like being stuck in an evil Hogwarts, surounded by wizards and having nothing you can do about it!

‘Legacies’ by Rosemary Edghill & Mercedes Lackey
After Spirit White’s family dies in a car accident, the Oakhurst Academy contacts her and tells her she is a Legacy. Which means one or both of her parents went to that school. In their Will they state she is to go there if anything happens to them before she is 18 years old. She finds out it is a school for children of magical abilities. She doesn’t know what her ability is. Students are disappearing. The staff don’t seem worried. Spirit and her new friends find out why.
Plot hole: Spirit never asks which parent went there and what were their magical abilities? You would think she might inherit their skills. This is not discussed.
