This collection brings together the best interviews of James Baldwin's career, including his last interview, given just a few weeks before his death. In these four conversations, Baldwin discusses questions of race, sexuality, politics, literature, and friendship, as well as his childhood and his life as a "transatlantic commuter" between France and America.

James Baldwin had to go to Paris and get away from our society drenched in racism, in order to go deep enough to find his true voice. He refuses to let whites label him and directly takes on the sickness of white superiority. James Baldwin was a global thinker, like MLK, with the same brilliant mind. I highly recommend this thin but powerful book of eye-opening interviews.

A wonderful reminder of some of Baldwin's important ideas.
