I absolutely LOVE this book! Some of the most important things we can teach our children are kindness and compassion to all creatures, especially toward those less fortunate. Trouper is not only black, which makes him less visible, he is also missing a leg. This book is a true gem in the haystack.

Although this story can certainly be enjoyed by toddlers, it is especially good for preschoolers. Fostering a love and respect for animals, there is plenty for the youngsters to talk about and Tell Stories About Everything. For the utmost appreciation, it will require an eye that pays attention to details as it becomes apparent that Trouper has only three legs. When he is adopted by a kind family, it’s a whole new Have Fun with Books.

This book brought tears to my eyes. It's a simple story of a dog who needed a home...and finally got one!
