Not too detract from Sachs' selection of JFK's speeches [I believe Sachs was also one of those University of Chicago boys who were involved in the morphing of the Soviet Union into a series of oligarchies] but I've always felt JFK's University of Washington speech was one of his most powerful and farsighted speeches. Otherwise, not a bad book by Jeffrey, admittedly not an economist I've ever been impressed with. [In conjunction with this I would recommend reading Nomi Prins' All The Presidents' Bankers and Donald Gibson's Battling Wall Street: the Kennedy Presidency.]
