Excellent book that gives us all hope. Also some new ideas! Very well written with the details you need to think about for your own projects without loosing the romance.

Forrest Pritchard had created a nicely written, heartfelt introduction to the beginnings of his life in sustainable livestock farming and DC farmer's market selling. His story is very good news in the continuing story of the horrors of factory farming. As a vegan, I can wish he'd gone into vegetable farming, but it is still wonderful to know that organic and sustainable practices are GAINING GROUND.

i just finished this wonderful, wonderful book called Gaining Ground by Forrest Pritchard. It is beautifully written with humour, pensiveness and plenty of insight. It was heartwarming to read a success story about grass-fed farming, especially since i get such constant doses of negativity on Facebook about the horrors of Monsanto and agri-business.

This is a great story about the author, Forrest Pritchard's efforts to revive his family farm by selling firewood, baling straw, selling chickens cubicle to cubicle, and finally delving into grass fed beef. Pritchard's voice and passion for his farm comes through the pages. He talks about waking each morning to a job he actually loves and still being able to pay the bills on time. It is a story of building family, saving tradition, and gaining ground.
