Should be part of the Library's Black History display every year. Well-done storytelling of how Rosa Parks was an experienced NAACP organizer who was in the right place, at the right time, with the right kind of courage, for advancing civil rights. To her great good fortune, she married an equal, and their courtship is a nice part of the tale. The movie doesn't shirk the hardships involved; along with some vintage news scenes, their own harassment and job loss is sensitively told. Cicely Tyson, now in her 90s, does a wonderful turn as Rosa's mom.

I would like to borrow this dvd to show to a group of elderly residents where I work. Could we get it from the Outreach Library on their next trip to The Heights at Columbia Knoll?

Angela Basset is a very good actress. This film showed what Rosa Parks went through in her personal struggles when it came to discrimination and prejudice. It was a powerful story about what happened when blacks were denied the same right everyone else had. Doesn't it make you wonder the hypocrisy of man when the constitution said one thing and they went by another. Inalienable rights?
