It was an interesting show.
Now I am don't have a mind for business, and I had trouble following along in some points.
This movie I think if you like business and can understand it and its politics, this is a movie for you. For others it could be a snoresfest.

This is an episode of Frontline on the PBS Network aired on Janury 22, 2013.
Yes, I believe that there was a conspiracy not to send the CEOs of mega-banks to jail.

EVERYTHING they reported as "caused by New York" should have read, "caused by Washington!" Can you say, Barney Frank? Christopher Todd?

Wall Street did NOT invent the sub mortgage market: it was foisted upon them by Congress. It was a Democrat imperative to allow anybody that wanted it to buy their own home--whether they could afford it or not. It really burns me to see so many people fooled by this nonsense. To this day, Democrats have failed to take responsibility for the Fannie Mae debacle.

[The commenter, Magic_Christian, appears to believe the bank teller is the cause of bank robberies? ? The subprime market was but a drop in a multi-gallon bucket of all the debt which had been securitized: corporate loans, commercial loans, et cetera. In other words, it was ultra-leveraging via credit derivatives, repos, and so forth, which caused the meltdown - - even the most uneducated should know that at this late date. What Wall Street did invent, and lobby strenuously for, were credit derivatives and a subcategory, the credit default swap, or naked swap, or unregulated insurance, allowing for the larges insurance swindles in human history!] Would I agree with the reasons as to why nobody went to jail? In a HUD study of 36 foreclosures filed by JPMorgan Chase, only one of the thirty-six contained the proper information, meaning 35 of those affidavits filed were fraudulent, which is a felony [meaning 35 felonies committed]. The 36th one was also a felonious crime as it was signed by a nonexistent person! We do know that the banks filed millions of false affidavits, which constitutes millions of felonies. Obviously, quite a few people should have gone to jail, but we exist in a completely fraud-based society. Yes, Jimmy Carter overturned federal anti-usury laws, which allowed Reagan to sign Adjustable Rate Mortgages into being, and congress unanimously voted in the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act, which legalized securities fraud, or rather exempted lawyers, accountants and brokers from prosecution, but still the banksters could have been jailed for affidavit and tax violations, as well as the law of fraudulent conveyance, which exists in the majority of states in the union.
