Three simple prayers to get you through tough times, everyday struggles, and the hard work of ordinary life. Readers of all ages have followed and cherished Anne Lamott's funny and perceptive writing about her own faith and prayer. And in Help, Thanks, Wow , she has coalesced everything she's learned about prayer into these simple transformative truths. It is these three prayers - asking for assistance, appreciating the good we witness, and feeling awe at the world - that can get us through the day and show us the way forward. In Help, Thanks, Wow , Lamott recounts how she came to these insights, explains what they have meant to her over the years and how they have helped, and explores how others have embraced these same ideas. Insightful and honest as only Anne Lamott can be, Help, Thanks, Wow is a book that new Lamott readers will love and longtime Lamott fans will treasure.

Definitely worth reading! It's easy to relate to her experiences and I love her sense of humor!

Read halfway, and book was unorganized. Jumped from one story to another without making sense as to why. Like other people who have tried to read this book, we agree on how unorganized the book is.

Cannot recommend.

This is the first Anne Lamont book that I've ever finished after attempting to read Bird By Bird a few years ago and ditching it shortly after starting it. My issue with Help Thanks Wow is that it came across a bit unorganized. I can best describe it as a book full of the author's personal revelations about God and life that in which she used to build a story around the words most often used by people that pray -- help, thanks, and wow. I'm pretty sure that I understand what she tried to do accomplish with this book from a storytelling perspective, but I'm not a fan of the way it was done.

I also picked up her book Hallelujah Anyway when I borrowed this book from the library; but I'm not going to read it as planned.

This book was by no means revolutionary, but it provided great reminders to ask the Divine for help, know your limits, and live gratefully for your blessings.

This book lacks substance and at times it seems like the author is just rambling to fill in some space.

Three essential prayers for those times when it's hard to express strong emotion into prayer. A short powerful read and one to keep near.

i find this book so easy to read and yet give me so much practical ways to live and continue on my rocky journey of faith

gives me HELP on how to deal with hard questions of family, work and religion

reminds me to say THANKS when I feel complaining about some of my nonsensical entitlement issues in a first world county

and amazingly look up and WOW, my God is real and knows how unstable my feelings are but continues to love and watch over me

you did it again Ms. Lamott!

Short. Cheerful. Harmless

This is a FABULOUS book! It's not very long but OH-SO-CHEWY!

Anne Lamott writes in a style that makes you think you're having an intimate conversation 1-1 with her. And yet, she brings in so many powerful examples and writes with such honest that you need to stop and consider regularly.

A wonderful book for anyone (Christian or otherwise) who is seeking a deeper prayer life

Annie's hit another home run. This little book is very readable and very wise.
