Just after dawn, Caren walks the grounds of Belle Vie, the historic plantation house she has managed for four years. Assuming an animal has been out after dark, she asks the gardener to tidy up some ground that had been dug up. Not long afterwards, he calls her to say it's a dead body. Caren must learn that the plantation has never been her home and she has had misguided loyalites and the truth about the murder and the plantation owners unravel
