Summary
Add a SummaryIn their quiet town of Capri, Maryland, Gemma and Harper have always lived a very quiet and uneventful life. Gemma is on the swim team, and Harper spends the majority of her time obsessing over the family’s needs.
But one day Gemma gets noticed by the new girls: Penn, Thea, and Lexi. Gemma could have sworn that there was something wrong with them. One night the girls draw her in and she is turned into a siren. But, this is not the life she wanted.
Harper knows that something is wrong with her sister, but her attempts to figure it out always come to no avail. With the help of Daniel, her new “friend” and Alex, Gemma’s new boyfriend, they might just find out the truth… Or dig themselves deeper into the mystery they had not been a part of.
Gemma and Harper are both on a journey that they might not return from. The final question is how to protect your family and love ones from a unstoppable force.

Add a CommentThis was yet again another maginifecent book series by Amanda Hocking! I think she might be my favourite author now. Would definetely recommend to anyone who loves books about sirens and mythologies. I am so excited to read the second book.
I really enjoyed this book, and couldn't put it down. it was very exciting!!!
a very good first book. i like this author. i have read another series by her and shes good
(As I did not read this series in order, I was slightly confused by what happened/was happening). But I actually read this book last, and most stuff still made sense and whatnot. The cover creeped me out at first for a while though. But SIRENS! Who can resist the good pull of a book on, well, mythical creatures that pull in those around them with their deadly voices? Two sisters, ever the pair, are tested in their relationship when one is led away by some mysteriously pretty girls in a "summer town". Isn't this interesting... but beware! Mature audience only! Violence is pretty... disturbing. 4/5 stars

I loved this book. Can't wait for the others and the Trylle one was awesome! LOVED IT!
I love this book, and the mythology thats mixed into it.
I would agree with those who have said that the story was relatively simple and that the characters lacked a certain amount of depth. However, the ending is simply unpredictable and it will be interesting to see how this will get resolved.
this was such a great book can't wait to read the next on in the series
I thought this book was okay in the beginning, it was strange and unique, but I didn't really like how it changed character point of view so quickly. As I kept reading, that problem got better when it was more of changing points of view for certain chapters. Plus, the book steadily got better. By the end, I was left craving for the next book in the series.
I was alarmed when my 9 year old daughter brought this home from the library. It was in the "Tween" section, and is definitely NOT tween appropriate. There was frequent love content that was way too mature, and a few graphic violence/gore scenes. My daughter thought it was just going to be a nice mermaid/swimming story. Luckily, I saw the book before she got too far into it...
