I can't even rate it as I didn't make it past the first few pages. I understand this is considered a wonderful book; it was on a list of books that Christian women "need to read" in their lifetime. But I just couldn't do it. Her style of writing made it difficult for me to engage. I'm so glad others liked it, but I just didn't. It's going back today.

How do you find joy in the everyday routine or in the midst of trauma or death? A friend asks Ann to name one thousand things that she loves and for which she is thankful. This Christian inspirational title relates one person’s journey, being aware of the presence of God all day. This touching book is written like a stream-of-consciousness piece and gratitude journal combined with Voskamp’s reflection on her daily experiences as a mother, farmer, wife, neighbor, a writer, and a friend. The major theme is finding the awe and wonder everywhere. Readers are challenged to see God’s blessings and dare to live joyously right now, where you are.

Really beautifully written up until a point where I think she runs out of things to talk about. Nonetheless, this book has encouraged me to write about the things I love about life.

I read this book in October 2011and it has improved my outlook on life. I've been keeping a journal of things I'm thankful for and am up to 800 and loving looking for things to be thankful for. It really does change your outlook on life... seeing GOD at work in the ordinary daily happenings of your life. I highly recommend this book and challenge you to start your own list!
