Superman has always been a morale compass in a otherwise drifting culture. He does what he needs to so he can save the world, what he won't do is kill. Ever wonder if he did kill? What that would be like for his enemies whom know no matter what they will always get to live despite the truly evil and heinous things they do. Then watch this DVD, because that is what he shows the Elite - a Superman willing to kill.

Very well done, Superman vs the Elite is one of the few DC Animated features that doesn’t feel like someone took a couple of passes at a script and then left the rest up to the animators in Korea (or wherever). That’s likely because the writer, Joe Kelly, also wrote the original Superman comic, published years ago, that this movie is based on. Some truly amazing sequences push the otherwise average animation to its limits. Nobody stayed at home today. Batman: Year One remains, by far, the best DC Animated film, but chalk Superman vs. the Elite as another creative success.

Fair - Superman vs. The Elite (2012) 76 min. [Animated] [Direct to Video] The film, adapted from the pages of Action Comics #775, takes a while before settling down to real business. Once there, the plot explodes with an interesting concept to ponder – is Superman too soft in dealing with crime? The Elite, a bunch of nasty anti-heroes take the law into their own hands as police, judge and executioner all rolled into one neat package. The animation was good but I felt something was missing.
