Opinion
From Library Staff
The sigil of house Targaryen is a three-headed dragon that alludes to the close connection forged by human members of this family and the mythic beasts. In the first season, we are treated to the dramatic birth scene of three Targaryen dragons, and see them grow into unruly adolescents.
Wait, everyone's alive again? Magic! Start over from disc one and relive the good times, back when your favorite character still had a pulse.

Notices
Add NoticesSexual Content: There´s gonna be a lot of full frontal nudity in these first 2-3 seasons, so you have been warned. Extreme Sex and rape scenes will be included, so I´ll say, you'll have to be very mature and be in the right mindset to watch.
Violence: Violence will be necessary, because this is a show about survival and war. So expect some gory scenes, graphic cutting and blood. If you're the type of person who gets very nauseous about that stuff, this isn't the show for you.
Quotes
Add a Quote"When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die. There is no middle ground."
Cersei Lannister: You should have taken the realm for yourself. Jaime told me about the day King's Landing fell. He was sitting on the Iron Throne and you made him give it up. All you needed to do was climb those steps yourself. Such a sad mistake.
Eddard Stark: I've made many mistakes in my life, but that wasn't one of them.
Cersei Lannister: Oh but it was. When you play the game of thrones you win, or you die. There is no middle ground.

Comment
Add a CommentI had been eager to watch this show for some time, I was hooked from the first episode! The language is pretty raunchy and there is a lot of sex and violence, but that does not seem to stop me from watching, lol
I will start by saying I like the TV show (first 7 seasons) and the books. It has action, war scenes, high production values, good acting and awesome CGI dragons. It is a medieval fantasy brought to life. The people who like Sopranos / Walking Dead but do not like Game of Thrones for the "sex and violence", I suspect are also not fans of the fantasy genre. Fantasy is a love it or hate it genre, if you were not a fan of the fantasy genre before, this show will not change your mind.
Do not go in expecting something like Lord of the Rings, this is not that kind of fantasy. George RR Martin researched and picked out what he considered to be the most interesting parts of medieval history and built a fantasy world around it. This is a world with interesting characters with story arcs and some new ideas I have not seen in other fantasy novels / TV shows. If you enjoy fantasy shows and willing to give atleast the first half of the first season a chance, then please check out GoT.
Though I have (just within the last few weeks) become yet another huge fan of Game of Thrones, I had never tried watching it before nor, had I ever heard any actual specifics to the saga. But, decided to finally give it a try and right off the bat I was quite stunned and shocked!! I had no idea of the amount of soft (more like semi hard) porn, nudity and, blood and guts these shows had! Since no one had ever mentioned this to me (heck, just check out all the comments about it below mine....most all of them don't even mention this yet, there is a "whole lot of it" (and that's putting it lightly!) So, just be forewarned that you will see "many" full on female nudity (occasional male frontal however, the are always flacid), along with, up close and personal people nude and constantly "*ucking" ( that first season really had far too many intercourse scenes for me. It actually got to me a bit!) plus, constant blood, guts and gore since almost every scene had at least one person chopping off someone's head or, disemboweling them etc. And, this show lets the blood fly!!
I still have to say just how unique this show is and, how much it drew me in! Once I started watching it, I couldn't wait to get back to it and have been binge watching it like crazy (finishing the 1st through the 5th seasons within this last week and a half)! However, that first season, I probably had my head turned from the screen more than I watched it, due to so much intercourse and blood and gore. But, I still continued to listen and was drawn in never the less. Just wanted to give anyone who happens to read this, a heads up about the shows crude and, very adult content! (I'd extremely advise watching it before you let your children (even in their teens) watch it. The sex is right up close and personal!!)
No longer wondering why Game of Thrones is a runaway hit, I'm smitten too--there's something for everyone and I love it all!
wish I would've watched it a long time ago! Greatest show ever
A fantasy epic the likes of which have never been attempted on the small screen. Perhaps the greatest selling point of Game of Thrones is it's daring nature and therefore unpredictability. In my opinion it is simply the greatest show of its kind on television. Nothing else can hold a candle to it. A horde of unforgettable characters, all brilliantly acted.
Game of Thrones, unlike many other shows in the genre, quite clearly had a plan from the start (even with source material that remains unfinished). Where other shows lose focus and change in sweeping ways over the seasons, Game of Thrones remains committed to telling one overarching story.
I absolutely did not want to watch GoT. After people begging me for years to watch, I finally caved. I now understand all of the hype! I was sucked in from the first episode. I then had to talk other reluctant family members into watching and they too got sucked in. Yes, it's that good!
Great show, if you haven't been spoiled it really hits hard! But the disks I got were really scratched up. I missed a lot because it wouldn't play properly.
Game of Thrones will be remembered as one of the greatest television series of all time.
These discs are damaged and will not play. Maybe someday the library will hold people accountable for destroying public property. There is no reason that a DVD should ever be rendered unplayable with a modest amount of care.
