There is a new criminal mastermind at large, Professor James Moriarty, and not only is he Holmes' intellectual equal, but his capacity for evil, coupled with a complete lack of conscience, may give him an advantage over the renowned detective. Robert Downey Jr. with all the wit , charm and down right appealing to bring the all time favorite back to life. See Robert with a flavor of Ironman with a side kick of Watson to add some pepper and spice Jude Law has it all. A must see.

Saw the first one so had the feel for brotherly love to begin. Jude is cute and funny. Robert is cute and funny. Together was good synchronicity. Like the scene laying on the train coach floor. Great idea. FOR ME I thought it moved fast and enjoyed the timeline (Germany 1891 when my great grandmother came from Germany to the USA). Liked the few scenes with Stephen Fry right away. Enjoyed the banter more than most anything. "Feed the snake woman." It was a pleasant movie. How long has it been since I heard the word 'cossack' but when as a kid we watched circuses and movies? Robert's moves and meditation are a turn on.

I liked the first one better, but not terrible though.

Robert Downey Jr. did a great job playing Sherlock Holmes. The story with fun to watch. Highly recommended.

not bad, mix of slow and action (matrix style) which I'm not sure I liked. Would have preferred more deduction. As always good banter, but not a super interesting plot (I never REALLY felt the conflict/edge of my seat)

Director Guy Ritchie's special effects work is at times pretty dazzling. The images of artillery shells slicing through trees in slow motion are, admittedly, cool. But once you get past those visuals, his story quickly wears thin. Watching Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law pound the pavement and the bad guys, there is nothing more than yet another calculated, soulless play for moviegoers' dollars, I thought. The fact that all the mysteries got unraveled in a chess game between Moriarty and Holmes is not just creative, but really shows the level of intensity between these two. The movie did have some comedy and sexual content, such as people kissing and naked men… but it isn’t too bad. After all, there was some humor in almost every single scene. I think this movie is one of the best “British accent” movies you’ll ever see.

Yes, there is not much to resemble Conan Doyle's character, but the movie is so good, Downey's acting is so great, it does not matter. I don't think there is a single actor/actress I did not like in this movie. English is not my mother tongue, yet, I had no trouble understanding Robert Downey Jr.. I watched it more than once and even bought the DVD.

Awesome! Thrilling, lots of action and funny! This was the first Sherlock Holmes with Rob Lowe that I saw and both he and Judd Law are incredible! Will have to rent the other one to watch how it all started!

Sherlock Holmes: Uh, hmm... Right. Where are the wagons?

Madam Simza Heron: The wagon is too slow. Can't you ride?

Dr. John Watson: It's not that he can't ride... How is it you put it, Holmes?

Sherlock Holmes: They're dangerous at both ends and... crafty in the middle. Why would I want anything with a mind of its own bobbing about between my legs?

Sherlock Holmes: "Madam, this is a glorious hedgehog goulash... I can't remember ever having had better..." Dr. John Watson: "Do tell me: When was the last time you had a hedgehog goulash?" Sherlock Homes: "I told you, Watson. I can't remember..."

Sherlock Holmes (of his dislike of horses): "...Dangerous at both ends, crafty in the middle..."

Sherlock Holmes (of Moriarty): "If we can stop him, we shall prevent the collapse of Western civilization... No pressure."

Watson: What are we doing down here?
Sherlock: *We* are waiting, *I* am smoking
