This is a "thinking-person's" book-- part thriller, part social commentary.

The secrets about "the Emperor" are sought by almost everyone in the tale, not the least by the second (and less favorite) son Talcott.

The plotting and characterization is top-notch; the audio is perfectly executed.

The only criticism I can identify is that the ending is a bit protracted. I suspect the author was reluctant to part with the incredible world he had spent so much time creating.
