Except for the alcoholism the story is great.

Sea Change is hampered by the traditional low-key atmosphere of an alcoholic police chief in a small town on the coast who can't face life with any kind of normalcy. Just about everything about Jesse Stone is depressing. The background music is guaranteed to put a pall on the viewer. But the story here is somewhat interesting. What I don't understand is how a professional hit man can enter his home and not trigger the dog's alert senses. Also, how does a professional hit man miss his target in a room where his intended victim is standing still during the initial shots? Tom Selleck looks physically nice and big but frankly his voice never matured into a real man's voice.

This is the 4th film in the Jesse Stone series and one of the best. There are three storylines. The first is the rape of an 18 year old girl aboard a rich old man's yacht. It turns out the old man often takes barely legal girls out onto his yacht, has sex with them, and videotapes it, making the video public. The second is a cold case of a bank robbery gone awry. He finds the clothes of the bank robber with two holes, indicating the robber was shot. He also finds out the bank teller who was kidnapped during the robbery, never to be seen again, had a sister who looked enough like her to pass as her twin. Jesse hunts down the sister and discovers it was the sisters who robbed the bank and one of them was shot and died. The other sister has suffered enough so he lets her go. The third case is Joe Genest's brother stalking Jesse. Eventually this comes down to a shootout. Yes, the dialogue is pretty bad, but the story isn't.

If it was a series pilot, it might have been ok, (reminiscent of the Longmire series) but I found it rather bland for a stand alone movie.
