From the pure, radiant flavors of classic Blackberry and Spicy Pineapple to unexpectedly enchanting combinations such as Sour Cream, Cherry and Tequila, or Strawberry-Horchata, Paletas is an engaging and delicious guide to Mexico's traditional--and some not-so-traditional--frozen treats.
Collected and developed by celebrated pastry chef Fany Gerson, this sweet little cookbook showcases her favorite recipes for paletas , those flavor-packed ice pops made from an enormous variety of fruits, nuts, flowers, and even spices; plus shaved ice (raspados) and aguas frescas--the delightful Mexican drinks featuring whole fruit and exotic ingredients like tamarind and hibiscus flowers.
Whether you're drawn to a simple burst of fresh fruit--as in the Coconut, Watermelon, or Cantaloupe pops--or prefer adventurous flavors like Mezcal-Orange, Mexican Chocolate, Hibiscus-Raspberry, or Lime Pie, Paletas is an inviting, refreshing guide guaranteed to help you beat the heat.

This is a great little book with simple, easy-to-follow and tasty ice recipes for summer. The only thing wrong with the book is that it doesn't reside on my shelves permanently. Must look into finding a copy.
Interesting taste combinations; lots to try out.

It was love at first bite when I tried paletas for the first time in Mexico. When I returned home, I took out two books: Peoples Pops and Paletas, from the library. Paletas was the one I thought was superior. It had enticing photos, ease of recipes, and more authenticity IMO. As one reviewer said, a person can use the recipes to the letter or simply use them for a base for experimentation.
One personal note is that you can put the paleta mixture of your choice into fancy desert bowls and serve them for your summer dinner party. You will be a star!

With its gorgeous color photographs and casual presentation, this book should be a summertime staple. The author gives a brief introduction to the world of Mexican frozen treats and agua frescas and offers a range of recipes that range from basic to adventurous. With plenty of vegan options and tips on substitutions, the recipes here can be followed to the letter or used as a starting place for exploration. As far as cookbooks go, this is about as easy and fun as it gets and is perfect for families looking for kitchen activities to share.

I love this gem of a book! Delicious recipes to make your own popcicles at home. My favorite is the horchata and avaocado pops. Highly recommend!
