with a voice that sounds like he just gargled gravel and swallowed raw eggs, Dylan offers up renditions of yule tide favorites backed by a competent band. on the level of satire, unintended, this works fairly well.
I'm a Dylan fan ... and this ranks among his worst. He rasps and gasps his way -- tunelessly -- through a batch of overly familiar carols, offering nothing new or interesting to his interpretations other than sheer audacity. He probably knocked this album out in a single afternoon. Only "Must Be Santa" deserves a second listen, and even that fares better in the video.
May 4, 2016.....Ha!.....well.....I do love Bob Dylan, but I think I'll just have to listen to this one with my headphones on, while wrapping presents. I don't think my family would appreciate me subjecting them to this album. Little Drummer Boy was the best, but as for the others, I think I'll stick to Anne Murray and K.D. Lang. Raspy and Christmas songs just don't seem to go together!
