In the late 1890s, Brisco is a tough-as-rawhide cowpoke, debonair ladies' man, and Harvard-educated smarty-britches who roams from Frisco to Jalisco in pursuit of outlaws who killed his legendary lawman father. He is hired by rich tycoons as a bounty hunter and teams up with their liaison, nervous lawyer Socrates Poole, and rival African-American bounty hunter Lord Bowler to hunt down the evil John Bly. Both sides are aided by mysterious, futuristic inventions and powerful, mysterious orbs.

Campbell is one of my favorite actors; I put him in the same level of Bill Murray. Like Murray he didn’t appear in many good movies, which is surprising for such incredible comedians! Brisco County is a quirky extremely funny series, and I wish they had made more. County's inseparable horse, Comet, is a riot! Julius Carry is perfect as County’s side-kick Lord Bowler and so are Christian Clemenson as the shy Socrates Poole and creepy John Bly as arch-villain, cold-blooded Billy Drago. Kelly Rutherford plays a Mae-Westish saloon singer Dixie. The episode about Dunkin doughnuts is hilarious! This is not a sophisticated production, but a highly enjoyable B-movie. So good I am buying the whole series. * * * * *

Very funny and campy, fun plots. This series is a parody of westerns and science fiction mixed together. The main character is always looking for the "coming thing" and the inventions and science fantasy parts are just as entertaining as the "serious" cowboy stuff. The dialog is often clever, the acting is good, sometimes exaggerated to capture the humorous moments, but not over the top. I'm really sorry they did not continue the series, the cast chemistry is great!
