A 2005 film. A slow, plodding "artistic movie" about the first settlement in 1607 Virginia and the interactions of the Native Americans and English. The Pocahontas story. Not a lot of dialogue.

This is a good movie--slow, but there are a lots of things that need to be told or explained about this story.

be advised--there are 4 discs in the box...but they are all the same movie---

theatrical cut,, extended cut,,, the first cut, supplements

the movie only goes so far---you are left without explanation about what happens to her.

This gorgeous production tells the familiar story of Pocahontas and John Smith, and with it the founding of the Jamestown colony with a heart-rending lead performance by Q’orianka Kilcher as Pocahontas. With a lush soundtrack filled with classical music, it’s almost too easy to immerse yourself in the film’s dreamy aesthetics. Some viewers may find its slow pace and lack of conventional action dull, though many will undoubtedly find it enchanting.

Having seen 3 Malick movies now, I think I have his number. I agree with everyone who was bored. He manages to make even an exciting premise, like Pocahontas going to London, tedious in the extreme. In every film he has a tic of cutting away to stock footage of birdies warbling in the trees-- I get it, Earth is an Eden and naughty Man (Old World Man that is) has turned it into a viper's nest of strip malls (where they have sense enough not to show movies like this one). His use of music is very distracting (besides being mawkish) to those who recognize the sources. What Wagner's Ring or the music of Mozart have to do with this story is a mystery. Zero stars.

Kinda boring to be honest.

Very boring and difficult to understand the story. It seems the director didnt know what he was doing. Poor!!! Do not waste your time!!

Do not waste your time watching this movie!!!!! Paint dries faster than this film unfolds. You will scratch your head every minute of this film wondering why you are still watching it. You will clap at the end, because its finally over. 0/5

A big sluggish and heavy in the middle, but the gorgeous scenery helps move it along. There isn't much talking, so you need to be watching closely, which isn't for everyone.

Pocahontas: Mother, where do you live? In the sky? The clouds? The sea? Show me your face. Give me a sign. We rise... we rise. Afraid of myself. A god, he seems to me. What else is life but being near you? Do they suspect? Oh, to be given to you. You to me. I will be faithful to you. True. Two no more. One. One. I am... I am.
